My dreaming eye fell first On the garden of the ether And You, my child, alone In the verdant moonlit night Black birds fell upon You And they beat with wings and claws But could not pierce the garment Of God around Your chest It was then I saw the ocean So limitless, celestial And You, my child, illumined In the curling waves and foam Every fish came to You To seek the safety of You Each holding but a strand Of Your flowing sable hair They testified with blood In the eternal past and future You’d be King once and forever And the universe will bow It was then the morning stirred me With the yellow pink of daylight And Your little form still sleeping I saw You as you are And I loved You anew And I loved You anew And I knew I was Your father no more

We shall render Thee victorious By Thyself and by Thy Pen
4.
I kneel on the carpet My palms raised before You In love and adoration The earth that burns to ashes A sacred space protects me I am in the hollow of Your Hand Murmuring syllables and sounds Transcend into something more than me More than me… Merging into nothingness The light of splendour on me I turn a page and then I begin to… Turn to You with devotion And the world of souls all around me In surrender, meditation Letting go of all that restrains me Do You hear me? I am calling Professing all the love songs within me Turning to You with devotion... The ocean summons And I submerge Leaving the shore behind me And all therewith Reborn in the springtime The hallowed day How we’ve waited For so long

Crimson Seas 05:32
The ark set sail on the ancient sea Eternity on the prow The bloody red waves left Their paint on the hull And glory upon the bow And the maiden looked out then Upon its bright sails And the light of her face shone forth All were shaken in their graves Cowed by the eyes of their Lord Away away O fill the sails And strike out from the shore The vessel upon the crimson seas Sails to the place where the eye never sees To the place where what was is no more Treasures which neither beginning nor end Can dim their effulgence or light But they slipped from your hand And they slipped from your mind And now ever lost in the night Away away O fill the sails And strike out from the shore The vessel upon the crimson seas Sails to the place where the eye never sees To the place where what was is no more And proclaims The whispered mystic word that falls Like honey from the tongue has found No ear to hear Or breeze of faith among them
6.
Covenant 03:52
O long dark night Patiently awaiting the morning Every eye Turned to the horizon in longing Then Your name And Your face At the dawning The Royal Robe The Sacred Crown Your Adorning From Your Name Promise of an age in fulfillment From Your Pen The future of the world drawn in brilliance Then Your name And Your face At the dawning The Royal Robe The Sacred Crown Your Adorning Brings the world And long last Into shelter Lights the path Heals the wounds Forever
7.
You shone in the dark Where iron and chains Were the only thing that Remained You sweetened the heart When the viper and snake Struck out and caused it to Break No sunlight or starlight Nor verdure to gaze upon No mountains, no meadows No rivers to walk along But you were His dawn light When all shades were drawn And then when He granted The candle's desire To return to the heart of The fire You slipped from His Hands And slipped from His Sight Good night, purest Midhí Good night
8.
Into Fire 05:19
We walked out across the desert sands And then on through the snow With miles behind and miles ahead By the lantern’s glow Through prison bars we saw the light Through rain we saw the morn In a grain of sand, the universe In unity was born At long last The day comes And brings the heart’s desire Turn to the sun Turn to your God And journey into fire Unafraid of wolves or snakes Of calumny or knives We shouted out “Yá-Bahá” And gave away our lives At long last The day comes And brings the heart’s desire Turn to sun And turn to God And journey into fire
9.
O Sacred Dawn, did you see your children And hear them call your name? Their world is now only a cinder And only they remain O radiant morn, do you recall How you promised your return? We bowed our heads and knelt in prayers While all the world was burned Now I hear your name Cleansed of sorrow, cleansed of shame Eternal, faithful and true The promise makes the world anew

about

This collection of original music was written to mark the occasion of the 200th year anniversary of the birth of Bahá'u'lláh, founder of the Bahá'í Faith.

The lyrics are inspired and influenced by Bahá'u'lláh’s teachings about world unity, justice, and an ever-evolving world society, as well as those family and companions who knew and traveled with Him.

Thanks to Bonnie Ammerman, the Bahá'í Community of Mississippi Mills, Linda Bishop, Rhona Scoffield, Linda O’Neil, and Heather Harvey

A very special thanks to Tom McMahon, Rachelle Zaror, Mike McNeil, Olga Zoubkova, Paolo Pace, and Marie-Claire Saindon for doing such hard work in such little time.
